Alec Monopoly
Alec Monopoly made his name painting the top-hatted Monopoly man on walls around the world, and now brings that same irreverent spirit to the booth. His shows mix live painting with tech house DJ sets, and his recent releases include “Cold Fresh Air” with Solardo.
New York-born Alec Andon started painting the Monopoly man in 2008 as the financial crisis hit. His first subject was Bernie Madoff, whose arrest he watched on the evening news, and the top-hatted banker went on to appear on walls around the world.
His face is usually hidden behind a bandana, and his work has moved from the street to galleries and brand collaborations, including a role as TAG Heuer’s “Art Provocateur”, with his own studio at its manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds. At Social he did both: he played The Last Dance and left his artwork on the old club’s exterior.
