Claptone

Behind a golden, beaked mask, Claptone is one of house music’s great enigmas. The Berlin-based act broke through in 2013 with “No Eyes” featuring JAW, followed it with the albums Charmer, Fantast and Closer, and turned The Masquerade into a world-touring party of theatre and melody. His official bio notes five years in a row as the highest-ranked house DJ in DJ Mag’s Top 100.

Claptone has never revealed who is behind the mask, preferring to let the music speak: deep house with soul and real songwriting at its heart. His 2013 remix of Gregory Porter’s “Liquid Spirit” became a crossover hit across Europe and introduced him far beyond the clubs.

The Masquerade invites the crowd to dress up and play along with the mystery, and it has travelled from seasons in Ibiza to clubs and festivals around the world. In summer 2022 Social hosted him for six Thursday nights, from 14 July to 1 September.
