Purple Disco Machine
Purple Disco Machine is the project of Dresden producer Tino Piontek, who launched it in 2009 after years making tech and electro house. His love of disco, funk and big pop hooks took him from club favourite to international charts with “Hypnotized”, his collaboration with Sophie and the Giants.
His debut album, Soulmatic, came out on Australia’s Sweat It Out in 2017, with guests including Faithless, Kool Keith and CeeLo Green, and singles such as “Body Funk” and “Devil in Me” crossed from clubs to radio. “Hypnotized” followed in 2020 and became his biggest hit, with “Fireworks” and “In the Dark” keeping him in the charts.
He is also one of pop’s favourite remixers, with official mixes for Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now” and Lady Gaga’s “Rain on Me”, and his remix of Lizzo’s “About Damn Time” won the Grammy for Best Remixed Recording. The albums Exotica and Paradise followed. Before all of that went global, he played Social in August 2019.
